Elevations from Berlin: Black Loops return to the young Aterral label with a track that’s developed a life of its own. Time to take things ‘Higher’.

A straight-up timeless, jacking groove with a bassline you’d be proud to take home to your parents, ‘Higher’ was originally released in 2017 on Neovinyl, and supported across the board from Villalobos to Lovebirds via Wajeed who included it on his ‘Detroit Love’ compilation.

Five years later, ‘Higher’ lifts us once more with two crucial remixes from young house talents DJOKO and Hugo LX. Both flipping the original with their own sharp sense of character and unique palettes, German DJOKO takes the lead with a fluttering, cosmic take on the original. Deftly adding dreamy layers to the original, there’s a strong twang of early 90s house coded deep into every bump and twinkle.

Frenchman Hugo LX brings his own sense of star-gazing magic to the mix as the beats are clipped back to allow a jazzy staccato synth to take the lead. Once again big chords swing and swoon in the background as the momentum gradually rises with the help of a precision placed crowd sample.

Not so much remixes but whole new chapters in a story that keeps on rising. The remixes come complete with the original which still has plenty of its own story to tell. The second vinyl outing from this on-point Berlin-based label, this is guaranteed to be felt across dancefloors throughout the summer months and beyond.
